Hyatt Regency Kyoto is located in the quiet, historical Higashiyama Shichijo area very close to Sanjusangendo Temple, Chishakuin Temple and the Kyoto National Museum. The hotel is also convenient for both leisure and business, being just five minutes away from JR Kyoto Station.
The building was designed by renowned interior designer Mr. Takashi Sugimoto. The design concept is based on a contemporary Japanese aesthetic which creates a warm and modern atmosphere. The hotel offers 189 rooms in total, including four suites. All rooms feature a different array of patterned and colorful tapestries made from kimono fabric. The deluxe rooms also boast a deep wooden bathtub set upon a spacious granite floor.
All three hotel restaurants provide a seasonal menu using fresh ingredients. Guests enjoy a view onto a spacious Japanese garden while they dine. The Spa and Fitness Center offers a wide variety of treatments including acupuncture (unique to the hotel), shiatsu, massage and oils that use organic Kyoto cosmetics such as Chidoriya and rare French products such as YON-Ka.
Hyatt Regency Kyoto focuses on incentive tours and handles many kinds of corporate meetings, having seven banquet rooms available. For wedding groups, there is also a chapel on-site.

The Origin of Hiiragiya

This delightful ryokan is a long-established family business. The beginnings of Hiiragiya date back to 1818 when a family ancestor from Mukasa in Fukui Prefecture built a Kyoto residence on the present site. He was a devotee of the Hiiragi Shrine, a sub-shrine of the Shimogamo Shinto Shrine in Kyoto, where many wild holly bushes grow. (In Japanese holly is “hiiragi”). As holly is a symbol of holiness, our ancestor named his property “Hiiragiya” (House of Holly).
Ever since Hiiragiya ryokan was founded, the owners and employees have always worked hard to ensure guests enjoy a peaceful and relaxing stay while experiencing the very best of Kyoto. It is now our pleasure to offer you this time-honored hospitality also.
Our Japanese style rooms are all different with exquisite and individual decorations that give each its own charm and ambience. Most rooms enjoy a serene garden view and traditional wooden bath tubs, crafted from aromatic fir, are en-suite.
In 2006, a new wing designed to architecturally and tastefully complement the main building, was opened.
